Sheldon and his siblings were named after Big Bang Theory characters, but he is nothing like his namesake. His favorite place is anywhere humans and his sister Bernadette (Bernie) are. We’re not even kidding, if you don’t want a mini-me in kitten form, Sheldon isn’t for you! Not trying to melt your heart, but he insists on giving kisses when he’s happy. Right on the mouth! If he’s sleeping and his foster parent walks by he starts to purr without opening his eyes – too cute! He and his brother and sister were found outside much too young to be without their mother. When she never came back, these babies found their way into our Bottle Baby Program. Bottle babies tend to be slightly different from kittens raised by their moms. For a good reason, cat moms teach kittens to be little hunters. While human moms teach them that they can always rely on humans to provide everything their little hearts need and want. Sheldon has a special place in her heart for his sister, Bernadette. Wherever you see one, the other isn’t far behind. They will do their best in a home where they can continue caring for each other and their forever family. Sheldon is up-to-date on vaccinations and is spayed and microchipped. She is litter-box trained and uses cat trees and scratching posts appropriately. We are still accepting applications on this pet. Please read the Adoption Process steps below. Our Adoption Process: Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor and you must undergo an in person or virtual home visit from an RHS representative. Complete Application. https://www.richardsonhumanesociety.org/adopt/ Phone Interview/Vet Check. Compatible applicants will be forwarded to a counselor who will contact the applicant for a phone interview. We also get a reference from your vet, if applicable. Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will set up a visit where you can meet the pet you are interested in. We will try to include the foster parent so you can learn more about how the pet is in a home environment. Due to COVID, we may ask you to send a video of your yard and the pet's expected living space. Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at your home or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs, $300 for puppies (under 1 year) and $125 for cats.
