Sadaf, Domestic Shorthair For Adoption In Encinitas, California

Location:
Encinitas, CA
Description:

*** Sadaf is at The Cat Cafe in downtown San Diego. ***White & black bicolor, short hair, spayed female, born approx. 1/3/23, #18652Cats: can coexist with a few self-confident & energetic cats Dogs: probably Children: cat-savvy older kidsSadaf has traveled far and wide looking for love! When she was only four weeks old, a group of college girls in Tehran came across the extremely sick kitten on the streets. Sadaf was suffering from severe eye infections, dehydration, and anemia. Lethargic and near death, her rescuers quickly took her to the hospital, and she was able to start treatment immediately. Apparently, she had contracted the infection during an eye herpes flare-up, and the condition of her eyes was so bad that there was concern she would lose both. Fortunately, she recovered fully and has normal vision. Once she could eat on her own, the girls were very reluctant to return her to the streets as they did not think she would make it. They tried to find a home for her; however, few people in Iran have pets because it is just not a common social practice. Finally, Sadaf's saviors hooked up with a lady in America who does dog rescue in Tehran and reached out to her about Sadaf immigrating to the U.S. for a better life. That woman is affiliated with The Rescue House and asked us to help Sadaf. When we found out about her, Sadaf was already on a flight to LA. We knew it was fate (as well as a lot of caring people) that was bringing her to us, and as soon as she set paw on U.S. soil, it was as an RH kitty.Sadaf is the life of the party: friendly, curious, and always down to have a blast! She introduces herself to newcomers and hopes they'll pick up a wand toy for a play session. Sadaf's energy outlasts many other cats; she'll keep doing laps around the house or toss her toys in the air to then chase them down. She is constantly on the go and rarely sits still... unless she spots an exceptional sunbeam, of course. Considering how independent she is, it's not surprising that Sadaf prefers to keep her paws under her own control, though she is always interactive with her people and (once she has had her fill of frolicking) will join you for snuggle sessions on the bed or couch. Sadaf's meow is absolutely adorable; it sounds kind of like a creaking door, and she can get quite chatty when she is in the mood. She is also incredibly intelligent and can figure out puzzles (like removing stickers from glass windows). In Persian, Sadaf's name means "seashell", and just like every shell is unique, so is our precious princess! This spunky girl is mostly good with other cats, but she is on the dominant side, and given her extremely high play drive she does best with kitties that can match her energy. There are times she can get a little weird and unexpectedly dramatic at her feline friends, so we suggest a home with only one or two other cats who will roll with her moods and not be intimidated. As far as we know, Sadaf has never met a dog, though our best guess is she may be okay with a kitty-friendly canine. On occasion she gets overexuberant and is careless of her claws during play, so young children might not be the best idea; however, she does well with cat-savvy older children. It was a long journey from Iran (over forty hours) for this lucky lady! Are you willing to give her the forever home she traversed the world to find?Adoption processAll prospective adopters must complete an application and be interviewed as part of the adoption process.Shelter locationWe at The Rescue House believe that we can contribute to the welfare of our furry friends by implementing an Adoption Program.
