Duchess Marie is a 10-year-old female, grey-and-white Persian/Maine coon mix -- based on her personality and appearance. She is a complete love bug and lap cat, and she follows her foster mom all over the house, rubbing up against her legs. At night Duchess enjoys cuddles on the couch while watching TV and getting pets and belly rubs. Duchess has some of the softest fur ever, with a big fluffy tail reminding every one of a feather duster. She would do well as a solo kitty to get all the attention, but is ok with other cats. Duchess is a little timid with loud noises and sudden movements, so a home without children would be best. She is very curious and likes to explore her surroundings. If you like a kitty to talk to you, Duchess is perfect; she has a soft, quiet voice, and the foster mom says they have full conversations. We attempt to match the animal's characteristics with the family and their lifestyle. We require an application form, which becomes part of the adoption contract, a personal or phone interview, veterinarian reference if applicable, home visit, and an additional agreement about how the animal will be treated. Cats must be indoors only, not declawed. Dogs must be fenced or leashed when outdoors and treated as part of the family--indoors as much as possible, and always at night. Adopter agrees to provide regular veterinary care, and to return the animal to us if they ever give it up. We reserve the right to check on the animal's welfare from time to time, with appropriate notice.Shelter locationAs a volunteer group, we do not have a facility. Our animals reside in foster homes. We show them at local events and by appointment.
