“Hello there, I’m Dawn. I might seem a bit shy at first, but once I get to know you, I promise you’ll see my sweet and mellow side. I love a good cuddle, but I also value my independence. I’m a playful soul, always ready for a game of chase the laser pointer or pounce on the crinkly toy. I’m curious too, always exploring every nook and cranny of my surroundings. I may need a little time to adjust, but once I do, I’ll be your loyal companion. Why should you adopt me? Because I’m Dawn, a cat full of love and life, just waiting to share my world with you.”Adoption processWe have a $95 adoption fee for cats and dogs that covers shots, testing, health checks and age-appropriate spay or neuter. All cats and dogs are micro chipped; dogs are on heartworm preventative. Our adopters must be 21, have ID and must undergo an interview, fill out an application and sign contracts related to commitments for the care of the animals. We will check veterinary references and landlord information. No animals may be adopted as gifts and and all members of the caretaking family must be in agreement about the adoption. Our shelter looks more like a gallery than a shelter! Incredible photography is displayed in our lobby. Care has been taken with every detail of the building. We are bringing in 100% outside fresh air and turning over the air in each space completely 15 times an hour. We have made certain that sunlight reaches every animal (and staff) workspace and even engaged a professional acoustician from the beginning to ensure that we manage the sound for everyone's comfort. We have cageless cat rooms with 19-foot ceilings and climbers everywhere to keep the kitties happy and healthy. We have a 'real life' dog living area set up for the dogs. Our shelter is unlike any you've ever experienced! You have to see it to believe it! We need adoption counselors, docents and animal "smoochers" to keep everyone feeling loved. We also need, welcome and swoon over our foster parents! Our volunteers and foster parents are like gold to us. Please consider joining this energetic and positive group!
