Our barn cat program is for our cats that take part in the TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) program but can't be returned to their communities because of danger or lack of care. These are our less social cats that don't crave the company of people, at least at this point in their lives. These cats are peaceful, easy to care for, and make friends easily with other farm animals. Pictured is our lovely Chula who was adopted as a mouser for the family chicken coop. The family followed the relocation instructions and Chula became queen of the land! Like Chula, many families that have adopted a barn cat report that the cats have become friendly over time and bonded with the other animals as well has the people. Most often, the cats are delivered in pairs by our volunteer that settle the cats in and provide instructions for you to follow. All agree that it is very rewarding to give a home and freedom to a less fortunate cat who just by chance was born without a human hand. Thank you!Adoption processThe first step to our adoption process is to fill out our quick and easy online application that is found on our website. From there our adoption counselor will call you to go over it with you and talk about any concerns that you may have. We collect a tax deductible donation of $100 to offset medical costs that we provide the kittens. Those costs include: flea control, internal parasites treatment and age appropriate vaccines. We also provide them with a wellness checkup and testing for FeLV and FIV. Young adults and kittens that are fully vetted are $250. Seniors, special needs and bonded pairs have a reduced donation. Thank you!Shelter locationOur pets are in private homes and our foster families are flexible and happy to accommodate to your schedule. Since they are private homes, you do need to fill out an application before going for a visit. We have public showings and adoption event for those who prefer to come and meet our kitties that way first.
