Hi, I'm Barbie! Due to a injury in my past, I currently have a handicap and am on the hunt for a family who can accommodate my handicap and allow me to live my life to its fullest! I arrived to Pet Angel in August of 2023 with a broken hind leg from Genessee County Animal Control. They asked Pet Angel to take me because when I arrived to them with my broken leg, their vet believed I would need that leg amputated and GCAC believed Pet Angel would be more equipped to helping me go through leg amputation surgery. Upon arrival to Pet Angel, I went directly to Pet Angel's vet, and she was able to save my leg! Which means, I didn't have to have it amputated! Instead, I had my leg put into a cast where it had to be completely straight as it healed, and was in that cast for a month! But I got to keep my leg, and that made the hassle of the cast all worth it! After the cast was removed from my leg, I went through Physical Therapy at the vet to begin to use my leg again. At first, I didn't put any weight on my once-broken-leg at all, but with time, I began using it again! And that's where my handicap comes in. Right now, I still limp and I don't have the ability to jump. As time goes on and my leg begins to heal, the limp may go away and I may regain the muscle to jump again. But also, there is a chance that I may have a permanent limp for the rest of my life, and will not regain the ability to jump again. I am only 2 (my birthday is February 9, 2022) so I have a long life ahead of me and I may out grow it! But there is always the possibility that this is how I will be long term. So, I'm hoping to find a owner who will accept a cat with a limp, and will provide pet staircases in the home so I can still look out windows, lay on the couch, and sleep in bed with you! I am more than just my limp! I love to talk, and always have something to say to my human friends! I enjoy catnip toys (yeowww bananas are my favorite) and love to bat at stick toys! I love to adventure around, even with my limp! I'm a biiiiig fan of wet food and cat treats! Infact, the Pet Angel staff things I could be trained to do tricks for treats I love them so much! I enjoy my fluffy cat beds, and love to lay inside hidey holes! I enjoy being brushed, and love to sit on your lap! But watch out, once I'm in your lap, you're not allowed to get up! I will yell at you if you try!I do not like other animals, and am looking for a home where I will be the only animal. Due to my handicap, need a home with either no children, or children over the age of 12. I am not a normal kitty, as I require extra care permanently due to my limp. This extra care does not require medication or additional vet visits, just an investment into some pet staircase, a few accommodations made throughout the home, and understanding and compassion by my forever humans. I am fixed, microchipped, up to date on all my shots, and negative for FIV/FELV.
