Notes from foster family: In the middle of April, I picked up this underweight, dehydrated, weeks behind in development, critically ill kitten to foster. While I have fostered sick kittens before, this little guy was the first medical foster I've brought home. He needed to be syringe fed every 2 hours, given fluids twice daily, his eyes and nose wiped from boogers constantly, and given multiple eye medications multiple times throughout the day on top of many oral medications. We struggled to get him to gain weight consistently for the first couple weeks which is the most common sign of a kitten failing to thrive, but with multiple check ups and changes in medications, this boy went from 0-100. I was never tooooo concerned that he wouldn't make it because his attitude is unlike anything I have ever seen before. He fought me (legit) tooth and nail for all medications since the day I brought him home, screaming his little heart out. We thought for quite sometime that at least one of his eyes would have to be removed, but his doctor just cleared him to keep BOTH eyes!! His eyelid on his left eye is going to get repaired so it can fully open. He has survived every single obstacle no one thought he could. He is one special dude He will be available for adoption through Harbor Humane Society within the next couple weeks, along with his friend, Tiki who I brought home at the end of May. Tiki was found alone in someone's yard when they were mowing the lawn. She came to me extremely under socialized and terrified of everything, except Tofu they bonded instantly and definitely do best having another kitten to play with. Tofu's confidence is exactly what Tiki needs, she cries for him whenever I have to steal Tofu to administer eye meds. While she is still unsure of quite a lot of things but has come such a long way in a short period of time. She just needs someone to show her the world is not *that* scary of place. She now craves human attention and starts to purr as soon as you touch her. Her screams are the cutest sound ever. She's also one of the only cats I've seen that rolls over for belly rubs I would love if they could stay together since they are such a perfect mesh. I will preface that Tofu will most likely have some on/off health issues due to the extremely tiring first few weeks of life he had battling pneumonia, calicivirus, eye infections, corneal ulcers, intestinal parasites, etc. So having a good relationship with your vet is SUPER important and you definitely have to be comfortable administering eye medications on a cat with an attitude!! I would honestly love nothing more to keep them for myself, but I already have a cat with multiple health issues. I would also love if you would be willing to send me pictures and updates all the time because Tofu has a very special place in my heart!
