Smooch: solid black, short hair, spayed female, born approx. 7/23/20, #15839Ebony: black w/white on tummy, short hair, spayed female, born approx. 5/5/22, #17738***Bonded Pair***Cats: very gentle felinesDogs: probably notChildren: 15+Found on the side of the road as a kitten by a Rescue House volunteer, Smooch joined our clowder and was adopted quickly. Unfortunately, the OG cat in the household wasn't very nice to her, and despite repeated attempts to integrate the two, the family was unsuccessful. She returned to us, and we placed her in a foster home where she could begin to heal emotionally. There, she met Ebony! When Ebony was just a wee babe, Animal Control brought her to a spay/neuter clinic. Volunteers with that organization reached out to their friends at The Rescue House, and Ebony joined Smooch in foster care. Recently, the girls had a conversation with their temporary mom and shared that they are ready to find a home! ---Smooch is a sweet and timid kitty. In her previous abode, the resident cat would bully her, and the inability of her parents to ensure she felt safe caused Smooch to lose her faith in people. Since entering foster care, she has worked hard to overcome her fears, and we are so proud of her! Still bashful and not quite sure of herself, she will need someone willing to take the initiative in interacting with her and go that extra mile to build a relationship. We recommend scheduling multiple cuddle sessions with her daily to help her trust again and to show her that she is wanted. If you are wondering how to make the first move, she adores receiving gentle body pets when drowsy. Also, napping takes up a good portion of her day, so there will be ample time to hold her on your lap for sleepy snuggles! With love and patience, she will blossom into the devoted companion she is meant to be, and all that snoozling will do wonders to bring you closer. Play is another great way to bond, and she loves wand toys! ---Ebony is a gentle young cat. Favoring a languid approach to life, loud noises and fast movements startle her. Unsurprisingly given her preferences, she feels that napping and relaxation are very important. Her favorite pastime is to watch the world go by while stretched out on a soft pillow. Such intense observation is hard work, and she often snoozes intermittently. If you catch her dozing, she will not mind if you walk up to her and begin softly stroking her body. This is the best time to begin to make friends with her as she readily welcomes pets when sleepy. It is true that her beauty rest is important to her; however, we don't mean to imply that she is a couch potato-she loves to chase the laser pointer or jump after a wand toy. Following a vigorous workout, put her in your lap so you can stroke her, and you two can relax together! Should you decide to reward her exceptional efforts on the playground with a Churu squeeze treat during your snuggle session, she would be over the moon! ***Smooch and Ebony MUST be adopted together. In terms of other felines, only very gentle and friendly cats will do-those not fitting the bill are a hard pass. Smooch probably would not appreciate dogs. Teens fifteen and up should be a good fit for them. With the benefit of your patience and love, Smooch and Ebony will settle in and become valuable members of your family!
