Adopt Skye a Gray or Blue Domestic Shorthair cat in Gibsonia, PA (41466601)

Location:
Gibsonia, PA
Description:

Calling all FeLV+ cat lovers, and fans of teeny tiny things... Introducing Skye! Skye came to TCR from another rescue after she tested positive for FeLV and was at risk of being euthanized. Skye is a silly goof who sometimes looks a bit cross-eyed and almost always has a less-than-impressed look on her face, but deep down she is a sweetheart who just needs someone with a soft and gentle touch to warm up to. Skye is a TINY girl - based on teeth the vet estimates her to be at least seven months old, but she is a perma-kitten who weighs less than 5lbs! Skye might be a bit nervous at first, but she is easy to handle and enjoys gentle pets. Get in a few good pets and you might even get a purr or two out of her! She can also be bribed pretty easily when it comes to treats and delicious snacks. Skye has been coming out of her shell more and more especially now that her "big sister" Brooke is in the picture - these two love hanging out together. Skye and Brooke could be adopted together, as solo kitties, or to homes with other FeLV+ cats. We think that either one of them would do fine with older, respectful kiddos who can be patient at first. Skye would thrive best with an adopter willing to start her off in one small room in their home, until she is comfortable and ready for more space. Skye is estimated to be about seven months old. She has been spayed, dewormed, flea treated, microchipped, vaccinated, and has tested FIV-/FeLV+ (progressive). This chronic illness doesn't currently affect Skye's daily life much; however, the FeLV virus may eventually affect her health and lifespan, as FeLV impairs the cat's immune system. Becoming established with a vet supportive of treating an FeLV+ cat, controlling secondary infections, and treating other illnesses as they arise is essential to maintaining an FeLV+ kitty. Are you looking to adopt an adorable tinycat? (Or two?) Consider Skye, or Skye and Brooke together!
