Adopt Manfred a Brown or Chocolate Domestic Shorthair / Mixed cat in Houston

Location:
Houston, TX
Description:

My name is Manfred. I know what you are thinking. You are thinking "Why do his ears look so funny?" While I may not be the best looking cat there ever was, I am absolutely the sweetest cat there ever was. I love to curl up in a ball next to my foster mom and take long naps. I really love to play too. I love to wrestle with and chase my foster siblings. I am also very talkative. I talk to my foster mom all the time and she says I have the sweetest meow. So back to my ears... I lived a very rough life before Houston Cares pulled me from an animal shelter. That rough life included chronic ear infections that left me with scar tissue in my ears which is why one of them sticks up straight and the other one does not. My foster mom says it gives me character. I'm also missing some hair on the back of my head because my ears itched so much I could not stop scratching. I still get ear infections from time to time, but my foster mom puts some medicine in them and they clear up. I don't speak the same language as my foster mom, so I haven't been able to tell her about my life before I was rescued, but my vet told her I was almost certainly abused, which my foster mom says makes my sweet demeanor even more amazing. I have had to have more than half of my teeth removed, so I have to have a diet that is mostly wet food. I can eat dry food if it is really small, but even then it is a lot of work to eat, so in order to stay a healthy weight I must have wet food. I also sustained a broken pelvis that had already healed long before I was rescued. It did not heal properly though, so my vet says I have a hip with a ball, but no socket. You would never know it though because I can run and jump just like my foster kitten siblings. I also have seizures. My foster mom noticed from the first day I got to her home that I became confused at times and struggled to locate things, like my food bowl. The vet has some guesses as to what might be causing my seizures and confusion, but we don't know for sure. There is definitely something wrong in my head, that makes me have seizures and get confused, but I function just fine. I know my name, I come when my foster mom calls me, and I eventually figure everything else out. I am on medication now that makes me feel so much better. I take three daily medications for my hip and my seizures. I take two in the morning and one at night and I am a champ at taking them. Having the right medication and feline friends have both been important in my progress. My perfect adopter would be someone who hopefully has a feline sibling for me and who also understands my medical needs. Even with my medical complications my foster mom says I am one of the easiest cats she has ever fostered. She loves it when I show her how much I love her by rubbing my face up against hers and I promise to love my forever family just as much.
