This is Jewel and shelter life is extremely hard for her. She was left in the back parking lot with a collar on and she was definitely someone's cat at one point. The first day she was here she was very easy to handle but now sits in her feral box hissing and spitting at whoever comes near. We're not sure what Jewel went through before she got here what we do know is that she's terrified. Her life has been turned upside down and she really needs a friend. Just one, just one good person who's willing to take a gamble on her. In her time here she has not gotten any better and she hisses, spits and lashes out at people she doesn't know. I was able to work with her a little bit and within some time she did relax and allow me to pet her but that does not come instantly. Jewel needs someone who understands what she's going through and can provide the right environment for her to feel safe in. Jewel would do best in a small, quiet room with someone who is willing to go slow with her and move at her pace. Jewel has been through a lot these last few months and isn't improving here. She needs a hero who will show her how amazing some people can be. Jewel didn't react well to the scent of other cats and while it may just be she's completely overwhelmed and just isn't responding to change well it could also very well mean she needs to be your one and only. What is for sure is Jewel needs someone who has a spare room for her to recover in emotionally. Someone who is cat savvy is best for a cat like Jewel.
