Brie is a cute one-year old female kitty who was surrendered by her owner on April 6, 2023 along with several other cats who had shared her previous home. Brie has an orange tabby short smooth coat, a long ringed tail, and an adorable face with dark golden eyes, a pink nose, and long white whiskers. Brie was a frightened girl when she entered our shelter and suddenly found herself in a small cage and isolated from her kitty friends who had shared her home .. And she shows her fear in only way she knows how (by hissing and showing us her pearly white teeth). Our compassionate kennel techs are giving her extra TLC and doing their best to make her feel loved and welcomed. Brie was given vaccinations and Pyrantel wormer on April 7, 2023. Brie was also combo tested on April 7th and is negative for feline leukemia and heartworm but tested positive for FIV [Feline Immunodeficiency Virus]. We are listing Brie as a 'Special Needs Kitty' for that reason but we prefer to think of her as merely very special for so many other reasons. A vigilant pet owner who treats secondary infections can assist an FIV-infected cat to live a reasonably long life. The chances that an FIV-infected cat will pass the virus to other cats within a household are slim to none if no serious fighting or biting occurs. Brie was spayed on April 10, 2023 and was also given rabies vaccine. She weighed 8.4 lbs that day. She is ready to find an appropriate/loving home of her very own (either through adoption or rescue) with someone who understands what it is like to be a scared little girl and who will have patience with her as she acclimates to her new home.
