Hello Everyone! My name is Boris! My family and friends call me Borissimo though! Somethings that my foster parents want you to know about me is that I used to be a barn cat. Man I loved free roaming around the barn because there were just so many people to love on me at all times! I had to retire from that life though because I was diagnosed with dental disease and stomatitis with accompanying halitosis. Those are a lot of big words but basically I had an infection in my mouth and they had to take out all of my teeth. When I say all, I mean all. It sucked for about 3 seconds until I realized this meant I get all the wet food in the world for the rest of forever! That also meant that I couldn't be a barn cat anymore because man, it is rough out on these farms and having no teeth meant it was going to be hard for me to defend myself if needed. So my second momma took me into her house and nursed me back to health and I am feeling so much better! I still love people oh so much but my foster momma wants me to make sure to tell you that I am a little bit of a messy boy but it is not my fault! I don't have any teeth so when I eat, I get some drool all over my fur and I mean, I am a white cat so it just shows all the mess. I tolerate baths on an as needed basis but I expect wet food afterwards as a reward for being a good boy! Foster momma here- Some long term things about Boris. We are working on weaning him off of his steroids and he is doing well but long term you would need to have a good relationship with your vet in the event that any of this infection comes back and he needs steroids again. As Boris made very clear, he does eat wet food. He will try to eat hard food if it is down but it agitates his gums so it would be best to be on wet food. He does like a good "soup of hard food soaked in water. He is currently on a multivitamin as well to help with recovering nutrients after the infection. It just gets sprinkled on the top of his food and he eats it like a champ! Boris is litter box trained, utd on shots, neutered, and microchipped. He is just looking for a special family to give him all of the love! He doesn't like dogs but will more than likely just walk away before engaging with them and he is cat selective. This means that if he feels territorial or that another cat is challenging his dominance, he will get scrappy so it would be best if he is in a home with no other cats or at least submissive cats.
