Meet Amber! Calling special adoptersI have a girl that is looking for somebody to help finish off her rehabilitation. This story is about Amber, this poor girl came into another rescue before reaching ours already defeated. She was burned down one side and died pink. It didn’t stop there. She had other medical issues that needed to be addressed and lots of rehabilitation as we do not know what she went through to get like that before she got to us. We can only assume. I received Amber as a request to help rehabilitate her back in February of 2023. She has done so well since her first day. She is approximately 2 years old, a domestic short hair, orange and white. She comes out of hiding now.She accepts the bowl when I put it in front of her for feeding.If you can get her while she’s in her cat house where she feels protected, you can pet her. Even though she'll hiss at you, she has never struck at me. She needs ongoing rehabilitation as she is a special needs cat due to her background. This cat has so much love in her to give and I would love to see her go to a home with very low traffic and somebody willing to give her the time, patients and attention she needs. As if things couldn't get worse for Amber already, she is also FIV positive. Is FIV a big deal? FIV simply means a cat’s immune system may be compromised somewhere down the road. FIV is a lentivirus, which is very slow acting and usually won’t affect a cat for 7 to 10 years. Most FIV cats live long, healthy, normal lives with no symptoms at all. FIV cats need the exact same care you give to any cat. Fiv positive and negative cats can live together as long as all cats are spayed or neutered and remain indoors and interact peacefully. Amber does great with other cats; however, she’s never been tested with dogs and would do better in a home without them. All HART kittens and cats are vet checked, combo tested, spayed or neutered, up to date on all vaccines, microchipped, and on flea and tick preventative.
