Meatball was part of a colony that got out of control. When his elderly caretaker went to the hospital, he and his colony were left to fend for themselves for awhile. When he came to us, Meatball (formerly Spicy Meatball) was completely feral and had no idea what it was like to be friends with a person. After a couple of months of working with him, I was able to earn his trust. Now, he is people-friendly and loves to be pet. His one flaw that remains is that he does NOT like being scruffed or put in a carrier. If he feels pinned down, he will panic and run away. I usually handle this with an oven mitt on one hand and the carrier in my other hand. He loves other cats, likely a result of being raised in a colony. He helps take care of the new cats, especially the new kittens that come into the foster room. We call him the "welcome committee." But Meatball has seen so many other cats come and go. He has been in the foster room, with our rescue, for almost ten months. It's his turn to find his forever home. He would be good as an inside cat or a well fed barn cat. He's a really sweet and playful cat, and he just needs someone to give him a chance!
