Dickens was found in the pouring rain on Christmas Eve 2021. He was 4 months old and buried in the ivy at the base of an old tree. The rescuer could not keep him and begged us to take him in and find him a home. We have been unsuccessful. Dickens has been diagnosed with IBD (Irritable Bowel Disease). He has had diagnostic testing done and has completed a series of specialized supplements intended to re-balance his gut biome. This condition is likely manageable with a prescription diet (he is currently eating Royal Canin Hydrolyzed Protein canned food) and regular veterinary care. His food runs nearly $300/mo. This is not sustainable for us to continue. Dickens and our other younger cat are buddies and play very hard. They overwhelm our 14 year old cat and run over her – they’re not aggressive, just young and high energy. Dickens also stalks and pounces on her, so she has come to feel unsafe and she has taken to hiding. He is independent and friendly.
