Adopt Ruby Mae a Brown Tabby Domestic Shorthair cat in Austin, TX (39441536)

Location:
Austin, TX
Description:

Beautiful, Capable, Will WOW You! Ruby Mae will give you her love and be your best friend! She doesn't need to be petted constantly, she is simply happy to be near her beloved human. Ruby Mae loves to be with you and has a calm personality, but will be cautious and careful for a while in her new home as she gets used to you and her new environment. And that's understandable, because Ruby has moderate cerebellar hypoplasia (CH), which is a neurological condition that makes her unbalanced when she walks. She gets in and out of her adaptive litter box, and will "run" over to you! After a few steps, though, she will flop over; then she gets up and does it all over again. Don't worry, she's not in any pain, that's "normal" to her! Watch her sweet video. People in Austin love CH kitties! APA! has had great success finding them homes, so when a small shelter in another state reached out and asked if we could find a home for Ruby, of course we said yes! Ruby Mae needs a home with adults who will appreciate, love, and celebrate her for her abilities, as well as her "disability." Her people should be gentle, kind, and patient, and spend quality time with her. Everything about Ruby Mae is delightful, she is just a little different than other cats! She has beautiful tabby markings, a super-long tail, and eyes that gaze right into the core of your being. If you would like to meet Ruby Mae and learn more about her, contact us today! Feline cerebellar hypoplasia (CH) is a non-progressive, non-contagious neurological condition that causes balance issues. CH cats were born like this and usually wobble or have a funny gait; some cats have a minor imbalance and some are very wobbly! Cats with minor to moderate CH like Ruby Mae require no special care, or only minor accommodation, like avoiding stairs. Cats adopted from APA! with CH must be kept indoors only. CH cats have the same lifespan as other cats. For more information, please visit: lifewithchcats.com. All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team. For further information or to meet Ruby Mae, please email XXXX@austinpetsalive.org.
