Adopt Mitzi a All Black Domestic Shorthair / Mixed cat in Philadelphia

Location:
Philadelphia, PA
Description:

** $70 in pledges for the rescue that pulls ** Mitzi ACCT-A-66014 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical concerns. Mitzi must have confirmed placement with an ADOPTER, FOSTER OR RESCUE PARTNER by Friday, July 21st, 2023 at 10 A.M. Should Mitzi's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Little 'Ol Mitzi is a 15 year old gray kitty who doesn't act a day over 3 years old. Mitzi had been surrendered to us in March 2020 when she attempted to run out of her home. The owner's mother attempted to grab Mitzi and she forgot that the cat did not like being touched/picked up. The cat then began to scratch and bite the woman's arm, and caused minor puncture wounds and bleeding from the scratches. Mitzi was then adopted and then surrendered to us June 6th, 2023. The reason for the surrender was due to her family unfortunately being forced to move from their current home and they could not take her. Her family shared that she does not like dogs and that she lived with a 3 year old and a 6 year old. Mitzi's family went on to say that she has never bitten or scratched but she had attempted to before. While in our care Mitzi has been a delight to be around. Unfortunately, this senior lady has been overlooked quite a bit due to her age. Unfortunately, Mitzi is now at risk of euthanasia due to loose stool and blood noted in the stool. The veterinarian who examined her believes parasites versus (or) chronic disease such as ibd (inflammatory bowel disease), infectious, neoplasia (less likely) could be a possibility. Mitzi was treated for parasites and the stool should continue to be monitored in a home environment. Additionally, she would benefit from senior bloodwork to rule out any other potential concerns. Mitzi is hoping someone is searching for an elderly kitty that could be given a second chance to break out of the shelter. This senior lady has lots of love and affection to give and is waiting to shower her forever person with all of that and more! Per Staff on 7/17/23: I approached Mitzi and she was resting in her kennel. I opened the kennel and offered my hand for her to sniff. Mitzi sniffed my hand and then began to head butt my hand for pets. She made tiny little biscuits on her blanket and was pleased with the attention that she was receiving. She is a cute little older lady! Possible placement, interested parties, and other "TBD" statuses are not considered confirmed and do not indicate an animal is no longer urgent. ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week. Please visit www.acctphilly.org/adopt for details.
