Adopt Blacky a All Black Domestic Shorthair / Domestic Shorthair / Mixed cat in

Location:
Encinitas, CA
Description:

Solid black, short hair, neutered male, born approx. 4/1/19, #18233Other cats: likely fine after intro Dogs: unknown Children: gentle kids likely okay Blacky was doing a poor job of fending for himself when he arrived at the garage of a Good Samaritan couple who are cat lovers and have rescued many over the years. He was in rough shape, with multiple open wounds and scars to accompany his extreme hunger. His benefactors immediately got him food and whisked him to a vet for assessment and treatment; back at their place, they gave him a safe place to heal both his physical and spiritual wounds before reaching out for help placing him in a loving forever home.Blacky has thrived in his foster home, but what he really craves is to have his very own special people and be a full-fledged member of the family. He LOVES people! Blacky will seek your hands out, sure that if you pet him then everything will be wonderful. And he loves it when you sit down, for Blacky is a definite lap-cat. While he's not a constant purrer, he will rev up his motor in extra appreciation of your attention. There is so much quality companionship ahead for Blacky's future person! Blacky enjoys his boxes, toys, and beds... all the comforts of home... but his main focus is YOU.Blacky hasn't been around other cats very often since his rescue, but those times were amicable and we think he could live harmoniously with a couple of like-minded kitties once introduced. We don't know his thoughts on dogs. While he has not been observed around children, we think he may be fine with gentle and respectful kids.Is there a handsome house panther in your future? Blacky's ready, how about you? While healthy, Blacky has tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). This is a type of virus that typically causes some weakening of a cat's immune system. It is a cat-only virus and cannot be spread through casual friendly contact between cats. FIV+ cats can and do live quite normal lives in quality, duration, and happiness.
