Adopt Sadie J a Gray or Blue Domestic Shorthair / Mixed cat in Philadelphia

Location:
Philadelphia, PA
Description:

** $235 in pledges for the rescue that pulls ** Sadie J ACCT-A-138605 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical concerns. Sadie J must have confirmed placement with an RESCUE PARTNER, FOSTER or ADOPTER by Sunday, August 13th at 10 A.M. Should Sadie J's medical status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Sadie J, a 12-year-old senior kitty citizen, first arrived at ACCT on May 20th due to her habit of scratching the owner's furniture. She was later adopted but unfortunately brought back on July 6th due to a medical issue. The owner observed that Sadie's eyes were bulging, accompanied by ocular discharge, and she seemed to be in pain. Administering medication to her was challenging as she would react with biting. Upon her return to ACCT, Sadie was visibly uncomfortable, displaying signs of discomfort through tears and crying. Sadie J is a sweet but shy little senior who is looking for a home that she can spend her golden years in. On 8/10 staff noted- Sadie is a nervous yet sweet girl. When approached, she retreats to the back of the kennel and makes herself small. She prefers a slow and gentle approach and enjoys head scratches, often rubbing her head against your hand or objects in the kennel. When I paused and stepped back, she came to the kennel door, displaying a more sociable demeanor. See video of this interaction below! 8/7 Sadie J was noted to have stumbled coming out of the litter box, and seemed wobbly. Possibly not weight bearing on left hind leg. 3/3 - Full ROM in all joints, no pain, ambulatory x 4. Minimal dental calculus. During abdomen palpation it was noted to be soft and comfortable. Her lymphatic has no peripheral enlargement. And her bladder was small and soft. On 8/5 Sadi J was noted limping on her left hind leg and was started on Gabapentin for possible pain management. On 7/27 Has been noted to have an ongoing URI as this is Sadie's third URI in a matter of months. Underlying herpes virus is suspected but will start a course of azithromycin to cover for secondary bacterial infection On 7/11 The adopter let us know that Sadie J scratched the adopter's niece on the Saturday prior to them surrendering her. No further details were provided. On 7/9 Sadie was bright, alert, and responsive during her exam. She was eating well while in our care. Her eyes were open and appeared to be comfortable, no chemosis or conjunctivitis remaining. Very mild ephipora (clear discharge) OD only. No active nasal discharge present, but did have a light, non-productive sneeze once. 7/7 staff noted Seems to be in discomfort, crying and tearing out right eye On 7/5 Sadie had a URI on initial intake but signs resolved with course of doxycycline in shelter. Sadie was adopted and has now developed recurrent, more severe URI signs On 7/5 Sadie was noted having bulging eye on right eye, ocular discharge, and sneezing. She was also noted heavy tartar buildup 6/20 staff noted Sweet kitty, came up to front of the kennel, gave head bumps, got a little overstimulated and bit my finger lightly in a playful manner. On 6/20 staff noted Sadie J is a little sweetheart with a lot of sass! This girl is 12 years young and very curious about new people. Sadie J and her siblings ended up in the shelter when the owner remodeled their house and bought new furniture, and did not want the cats to scratch up their home. Sadie is hoping to find a loving home that embraces her for who she is and loves her sassy, spicy purrsonality! On 6/5 Sadie was noted being bright, alert and responsive and eating well! Sadie had mild serous nasal discharge, but no audible congestion or sneezing noted at time of exam. On 5/31 Sadie was noted having a URI. She was also noted still having copious serous nasal dc, milder serous OU dc, afebrile. Still very scared and will become fractious after too much handling. On 5/30 Sadie was noted not eating in the kennel, ruled out second to URI signs. Her URI signs persist and Sadie has been showing signs of stress in the shelter. 5/30 staff noted When I approached her kennel, she was attentive and gave a sweet meow. When putting my hand in, she sniffed it being okay with my presence. However, when I went in to pet her, she moved away, not wanting to be pet. Besides being a little nervous and shy, she's a very sweet kitty. On 5/29 Sadie came down with a URI. Said has moderate tartar on upper arcades. Stage 2/4 periodontal disease. No obvious oral masses/lesions seen on tongue or gingiva or in mouth. Pupils equal in size and reactive to light, no ocular discharge, orbit and globe are symmetrical. Normal lungs sound auscultated, no apparent respiratory difficulty. Does have nasal congestion. No appreciable thyroid slip; No cough elicited on tracheal palpation. Healthy haircoat, no cutaneous or subcutaneous lesions apparent; no appreciable ectoparasites Sadie would benefit from finding a loving home or environment that will take things slowly and provide her with the time she requires to decompress, all while tending to her ongoing URI condition and other medical needs.
