Adopt SILVIA* a Brown Tabby Domestic Shorthair / Mixed (short coat) cat in

Location:
Tucson, AZ
Description:

Silvia has now been with me for about 4 weeks. And in that 4 weeks she has come a very long way. In that she was a rescue, we know very little about her. However, she was a very frightened kitty when brought to the shelter. She was afraid of all the people and did not like her surroundings. It was for this reason that I chose Silvia. I had great success with my current cat, Jack who was even in worse shape. So, I accepted the challenge and brought Silvia home for Kitty School 101 as she needed to start from the beginning. I prepared a short video on Silvia that you can watch. Click to Watch My Video . And have uploaded many other pictures and videos. Click to see my pictures and videos In addition, here are a few more things I can add. She has basically ceased her need to hide. She likes to hang out and kinda follows Jack (my resident Cat) around. She is not much for playing with balls and toys, but she still likes to play with the furry ball on the string. She comes when its meal time. She is still playing alpha kitty and trying to eat Jacks food, but, I am doing my best to push her back. She has swatted at Jack a few times if he comes to close to her when she’s eating. That too will lessen with time and familiarity. As for being picked up and held, she is getting better every day. I can usually just pet her and talk nicely and she will slowly calm down. One thing that has surely improved in the past few days is that she doesn’t dart off when I walk by. Which means she is becoming more trusting that no harm will come her way. Although this is a big turning point, she still does not come to me for petting or holding. In the video you will see that she is wearing a harness and is comfortable with it. I leave it on 24/7 and she has no issue with it. I have been working with her on a leash and she is over the stage of trying to run off and pull the string. At this stage she is okay with going outside, but not yet walking about. She sits for a bit and then wants to go back in. She is much more comfortable with Jack and they are getting better every day. Although she still swats at him on occasion, there isn’t any fighting and Jack just heads off
