Adopt El Monstro a All Black Domestic Shorthair / Mixed cat in Philadelphia

Location:
Philadelphia, PA
Description:

** $225 in pledges for rescue that pulls** El Monstro ACCT-A-139944 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical concerns. El Monstro must have confirmed placement with an RESCUE PARTNER, or FOSTER by Monday, June 27th at 10 A.M. Should El Monstro's medical status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. El Monstro, an adorable feline weighing 18.8 pounds, was surrendered by his owner along with his sister, Sprinkles, on June 8th due to the owner's health issues. The owner described El Monstro as an outgoing and friendly cat, while his sister is more introverted and shy. The owner also mentioned that both cats are fully trained to use the litter box and have never shown any aggression or attempts to bite. However, they are afraid of children. When El Monstro first arrived at ACCT, he understandably felt nervous, exhibiting growling, hissing, tense body language, dilated pupils, and seeking refuge in a box. Over time, he has gradually become more comfortable and has revealed his true personality. Although he remains shy, he appreciates a gentle approach and enjoys receiving head scratches and attention. El Monstro arrived with tangled fur and an abundance of dandruff present on his back. His fur had to be shaved due to severe matting along his back. Additionally, he exhibited signs of moderate dental issues, including significant build-up of plaque on his carnasial teeth and three resorptive lesions on other premolars. While no masses or enlarged organs were detected upon palpation, the examination was hindered by his obesity. On 6/21, he developed an upper respiratory infection and commenced treatment with medication. El Monstro eagerly seeks a rescue or caring home where he can receive the necessary time to relax and the affection he truly deserves. On 6/25 staff looked at El Monstro today after concerns that he was extremely congested and had green liquid under his chin. When they looked at him, he had a very noticeable amount of crusted discharge around both nostrils, he was at least partially breathing through his mouth, and had a yellow liquid around his mouth, which is consistent with the liquid Doxycycline he has been receiving. Possible placement, interested parties, and other "TBD" statuses are not considered confirmed and do not indicate an animal is no longer urgent.
