We have a very special boy here, with a very special situation. Bennigan is already an older gentleman who should be living up his golden years soaking up the rays in someone’s sunny window. Bennigan was diagnosed with a diaphragmatic hernia, which is where some of his abdominal organs slipped through an inappropriate hole in his diaphragm and now live full time in his chest. We aren’t sure if he was born with the condition, but he’s had it a very long time. Surgery is theoretically possible but relatively risky since the tissues have adhered themselves in his chest. We aren’t sure how long Bennigan has with us or if the hernia will contribute to his downfall, but we do know he shouldn’t be in a shelter and we also know we can’t euthanize him just for being old. He gets along really well with other cats, and he’s a fluffy frail thing. His eyes convey a tremendous amount of love and he’s looking for someone to shower his love onto.This animal is in a foster home. If you would like to meet this animal, go to www.souldog.org to fill out an adoption application. When submitting your adoption application make sure to submit a good clear picture of your living room, kitchen, and yard. If you rent, you must provide proof animals are allowed. We will contact references. Once the application is reviewed our adoptions coordinator will send your information to the foster to set up a meet and greet.We ask that all members of the household come for a meet and greet to ensure there are no personality clashes. If you have other dogs in the home and are meeting a dog you must bring them for the meet and greet. Filling out an adoption application does not mean you will be adopting the animal. Doing a meet and greet with one of our animals does not guarantee you are adopting the animal. We will select the family we feel is the best choice for that animal after screening and meeting applicants.
