Adopt Raisin a All Black Domestic Shorthair (short coat) cat in Chicago

Location:
Chicago, IL
Description:

Raisin is an extremely affectionate black kitten who has been through a lot in her short life. When Raisin was found in the street, possibly hit by a car, she was unable to stand. A PPAH volunteer jumped into action, and she was rushed to an emergency vet. During her stay in the hospital, it was discovered that she suffered from a broken hip that needed surgery. Even after her weeks-long hospital stay with 24-hour care, she was still not well enough to have the surgery. The vet thought sending her home would do wonders for her, and it did! Within a few days, Raisin started eating, meowing, and using the litter box. After a few more medical setbacks, including a raging infection in her hip area, more testing had to be run to ensure her values had improved before we could approve her surgery. Thankfully, Raisin had a successful surgery and is now ready to find her forever home. Raisin has flourished with her foster’s love and attention. Her foster describes her as a low-key cat who loves to snuggle and be with her humans. Although she is independent and will not beg for attention, she loves being petted and lavished with attention. She doesn’t let her slight limp get in her way; she loves running around the house with her mousy. She also enjoys burrowing under the covers for cat naps. Raisin would love to be an office assistant for someone who works from home. If she can snuggle during work hours, even better! Raisin can coexist with other cats, as well as dogs, but she prefers to spend time with people. She is good with children and adults but has not been exposed to dogs. We estimate her date of birth at 7/17/2022. All kittens must be adopted with another kitten or into a home with another young cat with which he or she can play and socialize. The majority of no-kill rescues nationwide adhere to this policy. This policy is NOT based on a desire to increase our number of adoptions, rather it ensures that the kittens we rescue, nurture, and love are adopted into homes that offer the best possible environment for their social development.
