When Ellie was rescued as a stray kitten, she was very wary of humans and needed some time to learn to trust. Once she realized she was safe, she blossomed into the sweet girl she is today! Ellie loves to be pet and cuddles up on laps of the people she trusts, though it may take some time to get to that level of trust with her. She is an intelligent and playful cat, her favorite activities are solving treat puzzles and chasing around her favorite toys. Ellie is a quick learner and has recently found a love for clicker training! She would do best with a family that is willing to provide her with daily enrichment activities to keep her from getting bored. Though she has made enormous progress since she arrived, Ellie is still a bit sensitive so she will need an adopter who understands feline body language and knows to give her space when she is feeling afraid or overwhelmed.##1502660##Adoption processWhen you come down to NSALA an associate will help you figure out what kind of animal will do best in your situation. At that point they will take out the animals you are interested in so that you may get to know them. You will have plenty of time to play and interact with your new friend in our family friendly areas designated for that purpose. When you decide you want to adopt, an associate will help you fill out an application. Our adoption fees are as follows:Puppies (up to 6 months) $350Adult Dogs (over 6 months) $100Puppy Mill Rescues $250Small Breed & Pure Breeds (over 6 months) $250Kittens (up to 6 months) $100Double Kittens $150Adult Cats (over 6 months) $50Double Adult Cats $75 Where applicable, a $50 Spay/Neuter deposit is required for kittens, $75 for puppies. On average, our shelter is home to 350 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens. Behind the scenes, the Adoption Center contains a nursery area, medical examination room and a grooming area where new admissions are health checked, vaccinated, bathed and groomed. Visitors are reminded that adoption is a lifelong commitment. After selecting a pet, each potential adopter is thoroughly screened, ensuring each adopter recognizes the life-changing commitment a new pet can be. To date, over 1,000,000 pet owners have met our high standards and adopted a pet from North Shore Animal League America.
