I have a sketchy story. I have no idea what my life was before..... But this I can share....I was picked up by a local ACO and brought to their shelter...turns out I had a family as I was already spayed. I stayed at the shelter but no one came looking for me or had any interest in adopting me. I developed a chip on my shoulders and I did not trust any human. I will hiss, extend my paw with claws out ready to give you a tattoo of scratch marks. It did not look too good at the shelter for me. The shelter transferred me to CRI and here I sit at the Pet Adoption Center, Greenbrier PetSmart store. I arrived 2 August 2023. I do need a special person with a cat behavior background who can help me. One person here is working with me since I arrived. Now, I will enter a kennel on my own so I can get out of my cage. I watch the other kittens at play...and yes I will hiss at them from inside the kennel. They must think it is a game as they keep coming back. So it is a game! I am getting better - watching more, hissing less. In my kennel, I even have moved my locations from a cat tree to the floor level. But this took time. I am still a work in progress, so if you are reading this, can you foster me? Give me my own room, no other cats or dogs or kids around. Give me time, more room to explore, a window would be grand. I will do my best to improve. I really do no know what will become of me. I do respond to Calming sprays and treats. I like to play with wand toys. I LOVE temptation treats. Come and visit me on the weekends during playtime at the Chesapeake PetSmart Store, Pet Adoption Center on Greenbrier Parkway:Saturday, 1100 - 1700Sunday, 1200 - 1630Plus, you can always visit me any time the store is open Monday - Friday and call the contact number on my cage card to meet me.Adoption fee is cash or check onlyAdoption processCat Rescue Adoption Fee $20 - $100 depending on age. Proof of home ownership or rental agreement stating pets are allowed is required Cat Rescue, Inc. will only adopt and animal to persons over 18. Owner will comply with all Virginia animal license and rabies requirements and will maintain animal in a healthy manner. Owner will keep this animal as a strictly-indoors pet and not allow him/her to run outside at large in violation of local animal control ordinances. Owner will accept this cat in his/her current condition and with all of his/her personal faults, Owner will also acknowledge that Cat rescue, Inc. has no further responsibility to owner or any other party for that condition or those faults. Owner will agree to keep as their pet and in their possession. Your pet will not be given to anyone except back to Cat Rescue, Inc unless permission is granted. Owner will agree that this cat/kitten will at no time be used in any form of medical experiment or research, or any form of cultural or social ritual or practice in which the animal is in any way harmed or threatened with harm or deprivation of any kind.Owner will not have the animal declawed. Owner understands that the cat/kitten has been rescued and his/her complete medical condition and behavioral history is generally not known to Cat Rescue, Inc. Every reasonable effort has been made to ascertain the animals good health, but not every condition or disease can be ruled out. Owner will agree to accept this animal in his/her current state of apparent good health and will assume responsibility for the care and medical treatment of any and all symptoms, illnesses and injuries at any time during which the animal is in owners custody.Shelter locationYou can visit our cats in the Greenbrier Petsmart Adoption Center, 1236 Greenbrier Parkway 7 days a week. We also set up tables/kennels on Saturdays from 11:00am to 4:00 pm and Sunday 12-4 to show those fostered at home.
