Grayson was living outside, on his own, like so many cats when we trapped him and brought him to Safe Shelter. He since has learned that he likes being petted very much! Not 100% tame; he still can be skittish on occasion. We're thinking that in a home, with lots of individual attention, he will blossom. Neutered, current on vaccinations, has combo tested negative. 240 522 XXXX for more information.Adoption processPotential adopters physically meet the animal, and me. The person or couple is interviewed in person, a vet reference is checked (if possible), and I visit the home, tour inside and outside, ask any additional questions necessary, meet any live-in family members yet unmet, and sleep on my final decision. The next day I will call with a decision - either way. The adoption fee for a dog is $50, for a cat, $30. The adoption contract includes a takeback policy - in effect for the entire life of the animal- and the right to visit, with notice, and to raclaim the animal in the case of neglect or abuse.Shelter locationWe have just started occationally showing animals at Tractor Supply in Lavale MD. The big fundraiser each year is a yard sale in Flintstone and if I have enough volunteers I try to bring some of the shelter animals to show.
