Slate is a male short-haired tabby kitten about 4 months of age. He is a gorgeous dark grey colored boy who has very faint stripes and an easy-to-care-for smooth coat that will only need a brushing every once in a while. Slate’s mom was pregnant with him when she was dumped in Borger just before the late February fires. A young family caught and rescued her just as they were ordered to evacuate. Mom, Mariposa, had five kittens at an Amarillo SPCA fosterer’s home on March 11, 2024. Their mother weaned them at five weeks and went on to be adopted herself. Slate is very active and plays well with other larger and smaller kittens and cats. This kitten will roll on his back in a person’s arms so his chest can be thoroughly scratched while he purrs and waves his feet. ALL toys are Slate’s favorite toys but he really likes to interactively chase a wand toy or ribbon. He will even drag a ribbon or wand toy at high speed around while other kittens chase it through the house. Mostly, he likes to be petted, handled and cuddled once he gets to trust someone. Slate likes fish-flavored wet and dry food, Greek yogurt and Temptations treats. Amarillo SPCA, 11901 S.
