Root beer, who is a playful kitten, wasn’t having any fun the day we picked him up. His original owner did not want him and proposed to take him to a nearby field and shoot him! He was also so uncomfortable, with fleas and ear mites! He is safe now and has seen and been treated by the vet. No more scratching! Root beer has the most beautiful eyes! He is lean and sleek, like a Siamese, but his coat is a root-beer-colored tabby with showy white markings on his face, chest and legs. What he likes most is to play, observe the world, and spend time with his brother and best friend, Oliver. He uses the litter box reliably and with no mistakes. He is friendly, observant, and playful! Please make sure to meet him! He is looking for someone to cherish him! We attempt to match the animal's characteristics with the family and their lifestyle. We require an application form, which becomes part of the adoption contract, a personal or phone interview, veterinarian reference if applicable, home visit, and an additional agreement about how the animal will be treated. Cats must be indoors only, not declawed. Dogs must be fenced or leashed when outdoors and treated as part of the family--indoors as much as possible, and always at night. Adopter agrees to provide regular veterinary care, and to return the animal to us if they ever give it up. We reserve the right to check on the animal's welfare from time to time, with appropriate notice.Shelter locationAs a volunteer group, we do not have a facility. Our animals reside in foster homes. We show them at local events and by appointment.
