Adopt Zoey a Orange or Red Tabby American Shorthair / Mixed (short coat) cat in
Zoey is an 11 year-old female who we took in and bottle fed when her mother died. She grew up in a home with a calm dog and an older cat. Zoey was friendly and playful around people and other pets. She even enjoyed snuggling up with the dog for naps on the couch. Unfortunately this couch caused a lot of static, and she would get shocked sometimes while being pet. This led her to be a little unsure around hands. 2 years ago, our 2nd child began walking, so she had two girls trying to touch her. Shortly after, our other cat passed away. This combination has caused Zoey lots of anxiety. She doesn't get mean, but Zoey now spends most of her time hiding to avoid kids. Zoey will still approach adults to rub up against them or be pet (with calm hands), but only when children/dogs aren't around. Zoey is a nice cat, but we don't believe she enjoys living in our home anymore. Our hope is that she finds a childless home where she can enjoy living peacefully for the years she has left.
