Adopt Vivienne (special story) a Brown Tabby Domestic Shorthair (short coat) cat
WELCOME VIVIENNE!!Vivienne is a new arrival to our shelter (4-12-19) coming to us from the most recent hoarding situation. She appears to be friendly, but is currently hiding under her bed. Please read her special story below ...... In a sad case, we were asked to assist with a group of animals left behind when their caretaker passed away. This appeared to be a situation in which the caretaker loved her animals, but became physically unable to keep up with daily routine care. The animals began to decline. The caretaker/resident left behind at least fifteen cats, a dog, a rabbit and other some other exotic pets. The cats are really sweet, but right now mostly scared and a little sick. We’ll be getting them healthy and ready for adoption in the coming days. All are amazingly gentle animals, who walked right up to greet us as we were assessing their various physical conditions. All had ear mites and fleas to varying degrees. Most had upper respiratory infections. Some were underweight from underlying health issues. Most of these lovely cats will be available for adoption soon through the Wyandotte Animal Adoption Center.Thank you for your continued support! Does this cat get along with other cats? There is almost always an acclimation period when a new pet joins the household. We are happy to suggest a few ways to ease the transition. Does this cat respond well to dogs? The more important question is how the dog responds to cats. Most cats will adjust to a dog, given time and patience. If the resident dog's response to cats is unknown, that should be determined prior to adding a cat to the household. We can offer a few suggestions. Is this cat nice with kids? The better question is how the kids have been taught to handle animals. A cat will respond negatively if he/she is not being handled properly. We can offer suggestions on how to teach kids to interact with cats. If you're interested in meeting any of our cats or dogs, stop in during our open hours.
