Adopt Thandiwe a Spotted Tabby/Leopard Spotted Siamese / Mixed cat in Warren

Warren, CT

Beloved: She is a reminder to us to be strong insistent women. A woman of poise, talent, beauty, and grace who has come to know she can embrace all of who she is. She is our Thandiwe (tan-DEE-way). From the first second we knew this girl was incredibly special. Thandiwe was the first cat to join our group of Beloved rescues. Not a kitten, not a pregnant or nursing mama, but a special kitty that instantly sparked a fire in our hearts and that needed a second chance.Thandiwe is exceptionally friendly and good natured. She would do best in a home where her human is around or where she has the company of one other easy going cat.Hers, unfortunately, is a way too common background story. Precious Thandiwe had lived quietly in a peaceful home with an elderly parent, when one day her owner passed. Sadly it’s one of those worries we all have to face, of “what if something happened to me, what would happen to my animals?” And times like this past year have reminded us more than ever of the need to think this through. Not just for older people contemplating getting an animal who may outlive them; but for any one of us at any age, at any stage in our lives where things could suddenly change. The “what woulds” that need to be addressed. And in this case, her deceased owner’s family didn’t want her and, when cleaning out the home, left her there without food or water for the management company to contend with. Which unfortunately they did so by putting her out on the street. House cats do not do well dumped outside. They aren’t meant to be. They don’t have the coping skills. They’re not supposed to. But luckily she had a way of finding love, when she wandered to a house in the area begging for food. The couple, already having their own animals and, though having fallen immediately in love, knew they needed to find her a home and reached out for help on neighborhood page. From there the great part of social media took over and people from the town knew to reach out to one of our fosters for help. The wonderful thing too was they realized getting help from a rescue that does all the medical care, fosters in a home, and fully vets adopters (including vet checks and virtual home visits), was the way to go to make sure this beauty was properly cared for. For us, when Kellie asked, of course we told her yes, get her. How could we say no to either beloved?Back in May 2021, Thandiwe found a home that seemed just right. However we recently learned that she has been struggling with separation anxiety as her human mom was not home as much as Thandiwe needed. Her mom did a very brave and difficult thing; she put Thandiwe's needs above her own feelings and reached out to us for help, and we are so glad she did. At Sophia L’Orange Kitten Rescue we make a promise to every single kitty we rescue, to always be here to take them back should things not work out with their adopters. We will give her endless amounts of love (and treats) and soon we will begin looking for her true forever home. You can see more pictures and videos of our fosters on our facebook page: Sophia L'Orange Kitten RescueAll of our adoptable animals are cared for and assessed in foster homes (we do not have a shelter), up to date on age appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed or neutered and tested for FeLV/FIV, before they are adopted. They have had de-worming medication as a standard of care and Flea/Tick/Ear Mite preventive treatment. Medical records will be released with the adopted pet.##1076531##
