Adopt RUSTY a Orange or Red Tabby Domestic Shorthair / Mixed (short coat) cat in
We see all sorts of cats here at the shelter. Playful tabbies, cuddly seniors, large orange cats and tiny kittens. Their days are full of pouncing on toys, climbing up cat trees and meeting with potential adopters before finally heading to a forever home. But sometimes we get cats that are confused, scared and trying so desperately to make sense of a situation that is unknown. Cats that have only ever known one home and cannot understand this sudden change in their lives. Rusty and Dolly came to us when their family, trying to manage their own failing health, had exhausted every option to keep their beloved pets. Heartbroken, this family was brave enough to give Rusty and Dolly the best chance possible to experience love again.Rusty and Dolly have been with us for a few months now. They spend their days cuddled together, usually hiding behind a shelf or in a hidey-box. Our staff and volunteers sit with them, read them stories, play quiet music and offer tasty treats. Rusty and Dolly try so hard to brave, they will emerge for a treat or to carefully bat a toy, before turning back to hide once again. No matter how hard we try, the shelter is not their home and we cannot mend their broken hearts or the hearts of the family who so bravely surrendered them.We tell you this story in the hopes that someone out there will take a chance on this pair who once knew tremendous love, the comforts of home and the joy of belonging in a family. Rusty and Dolly might not come out and say hello, they might not pose for a cute picture or catch your eye on social media with a silly video, but they deserve a second chance to be whole once more. Rusty and Dolly, we promise, our staff will keep searching until we find your home. Until then, you are loved by us all.Dolly & Rusty are sponsored!Interested in learning more?
