Adopt Eddison a Domestic Mediumhair / Mixed cat in Colorado Springs
Colorado Springs, CO
Hi all, I'm Eddison a DMH calico with an estimated DOB of 3/8/21. I had a rough start in life and had to have surgery, at CSU Teaching Hospital, in June to treat my Atresia Ani. My anus opening was not large enough for fecal matter to pass normally. The surgery was successful and I can have a normal size bm, but my anus does not close all the way and often I can't pinched off the bm. This is likely due to nerve issues or damage in the anal area that may or may not improve over time. This results in bm treasures being left around the house or stuck to my bum. Sometimes I drag my bum, on the floor, to get the bm off. Yes, this can result in a stinky space and mess. At times, I may need a bath. Car rides stress me out often and I may have an accident in the carrier. I take two meds twice a day. I take them very well via a syringe 15-30 minutes before a wet food meal. One med is Miralax, which is over the counter, super cheap and mixed with water and syringed. This med keeps the bm soft and passable. The other med is Cisapride, which is a prescription med that helps with gut motility so the bm moves through the large intestines and colon. This med is about $60/month. I will likely need to be on these meds for life. If I stop these meds, I will become constipated which may result in megacolon and require extensive vet care. Now that we got my medical issues out there, I am a completely lovely, sweet and affection gal. I'm quick to purr, take my meds with no issues, and love to play with wand toys. My fur is super soft and silky and my eyes are soft and loving. I enjoy being held like a baby, snuggled and pet. I can be a bit mischievous and can open an indoor barn door and bathroom drawers. Also, I am fond of relocating objects out of drawers and baskets. I am harness trained and enjoy going outside, pouncing on bugs and exploring. Don't think though that I am about to follow you around quite yet; I prefer to blaze my own trail when outside. Also, I need supervision because I haven't quite learned yet that bees should not be pounced on! I do enjoy the company of other cats and have adjusted fairly quickly in the past. I have been around one kitty friendly dog for a short time and I was super curious and even sniffed his paw. I may do well if the dog is cat friendly and the introduction is slow, supervised and cautious. I am a good eater and use the litterbox 100% of the time for pee and always try to have my bm's in the litterbox. I am really ready for a forever family and my next big adventure! I am up to date on my vaccinations, am negative for FIV/FELV. I have had my vet exam, been dewormed, and been microchipped and spayed. If you would like to know more about me or would like to meet me, please go to www.wbcats.org/adopt and submit an online application. Adoptions require an approved application and signed contract, favorable interview, and payment of all fees. ***10/7 Update, in the last three weeks I am doing so well on my meds and although I still leave a stool piece outside the litter box about once a day, I am not dragging my bum, the stool isn't sticking to me and I haven't needed a bath. My foster mom is even allowing me in her bedroom and we snuggle on the bed and I am not leaving a mess anywhere. I even get to walk around the whole house and be on the carpet! I do like to eat house plants so my home will have to not have them accessible. This is such an improvement that my foster mom thinks I am going to keep improving.
