Max tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.A volunteer writes: Max looks like a cartoon kitten. Peering up at me with big doleful eyes, he seemed, at first, a little unsure about why he's here. But Max is a sweetheart with an optimistic spirit, so he's ready to make the most of it. What I love most about him is that he doesn't waste a moment when it comes to making friends. I opened Max's condo door and he leaned his head into my hand. He really committed to that pose because he sat with his neck leaning down for a moment before stretching out in an extended loaf, somehow managing to use my hand as a pillow the entire time. Now, shelter life doesn't come naturally to all our kitties and Max does get a bit distracted when he hears his neighbors chit chatting. The door opening with people in and out can also make Max pause, but what I noticed is that he really wants to focus his love and energy on the person in front of him and he just needs a second to gather his thoughts before returning to his friends.
