What a good-looking boy, with a personality as wonderful as he is handsome! About 3 years old (DOB 4/2021), Beau was found during a TNR (trap-neuter-release) project, and the rescuer felt that he was so “ridiculously friendly” that she couldn’t release him back out and knew he belonged in a home. Beau is quite the social boy, loves to be petted – anywhere, anytime – and will even come to you when you call him! His rescuer notes: “He’s a large, handsome hunk, who loves to be spoiled.” His glamorous medium-length fur should be regularly brushed, and that’s just fine by him! He is very inquisitive and eager to explore the nooks and crannies in the home. He’s still learning some of the joys of being a doted-upon house cat: He doesn’t yet fully understand toys and is learning how to have fun with them! And boy does he get excited when it’s mealtime! Beau is FIV positive and FeLV negative. FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) is a lentivirus that affects cats around the world. Being FIV+ does not mean that the cat is sick, only that his immunity to fighting off disease is lower. FIV is not contagious to humans or other species and, while contagious among cats, it is difficult to transmit (typically through deep bite.) Beau is a strapping, healthy boy and does not require any special care beyond what is best for all cats – a healthy diet, staying indoors, and routine checkups. FIV positive cats can live long, healthy lives similar to other cats. As Beau was bullied when living on the street, this “gentle giant” might do best as the only cat in the home. Beau is neutered and up-to-date on shots. To adopt Beau, come to Petco Union square!Adoption processAll cats and kittens are vaccinated and tested for FELV (feline leukemia) and FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus), and if old enough, are neutered or spayed.We will ask you some questions about your home and we will be glad to answer any questions you may have. Adopting a pet is a long-term commitment. We ask you to sign the KittyKind Adoption Agreement.We will always take a cat back FOR ANY REASON. We will also work with you to place her in another good home if (after a period of adjustment) the adoption doesn't work out. We do ask for a $125 adoption fee to help cover some of our food and veterinary expenses.
