Meet Ellie, a 5-year-old girl who, with her bonded pal Maisie, epitomizes resilience and the healing power of love. Ellie was found crying and terrified in a homeless encampment that was burned to the ground in a deadly fire. She was backed into a corner, next to the bodies of some cats that sadly didn’t make it. Some parts of Ellie’s fur and front feet were singed, and she smelled strongly of smoke, but miraculously she was not seriously injured. Her body has healed and now she is looking for a family who will give her the time and love to heal her heart. Ellie has healthy clean, shiny fur and eyes that truly look at you with heart and soul. Beneath the hesitancy and caution is a lovely darling cat hoping to be your friend. She is guarded and quiet. But she responds happily to being pet or brushed with a steady purr and eats her wet food happily.She is happy and much more confident with her best friend Maisie around to give her encouragement. When first introduced to Maisie, Ellie got up right away and squeezed herself tight to her to cuddle. She gets as close to Maisie as possible, and it’s heartwarming to see them comforting each other together. Ellie would be good in a calm, quiet home with other cats, but no dogs or children or loud noises. Her people will need to be patient as she is reserved due to her trauma. With gentle petting and brushing and Maisie by her side, she will slowly relax and unwind. This may take months as cats do so on their time until they feel safe.
