My names Salem and I'm 9 years young. Another one of the many many amazing cats up for adoption at the town of Hempstead animal shelter. I'm very afraid here the told me my person was hospitalized and isn't coming back. My heart is broken and I'm so very confused. I feel so alone. I want attention so very badly but I'm so afraid I often retreat to the back of my cage. However I'm so desperate for love that if you open my cage I'll come out for any attention you're willing to give me. I'll risk what feels like my safety for the chance to connect with someone. I'm still so young but I keep hearing everyone say I'm too old .. I can still run and jump into your lap and I won't be any trouble at all. I don't like being picked up here in the shelter and hissed at the nice lady who tried but I haven't known her for too long and everything is new and terrifying. I really don't like other cats and being in a room filled with them had my on edge often. If I can find an environment I feel safe in I may be okay with it.... I wasn't mean to her, I didn't try to scratch or bite I was just trying to communicate my fear. I'm so afraid here it's hard for me to show my true personality here in the shelter and I'm waiting for someone to give me the chance to blossom into my full self. I'm still extremely playful and I'm getting pent up with energy here in my cage. I could really use some understanding right now.
