Greetings, bipeds! I have traveled many lightyears in search of Earth's most precious resource...... squeezy treats. Oh, and snuggles or whatever. But mostly the treats. Can you point me in the right direction? If I sound demanding, it's just because I know what I want and I don't waste time with small talk! I have not yet learned of these "manners", as you call them... it's much more efficient to simply yell when I want something! I am orange, after all. We orange creatures were blessed with powerful lungs and an abundance of noises. I suppose I could be convinced to enjoy a snuggle, every now and then, under the right conditions. Especially in exchange for treats! It turns out bribery works on me. I was originally a feral kitten, destined to live a snuggle-free life, but my foster humans intervened and have convinced me that you humans are actually not all bad and being petted probably isn't the worst thing in the world. (Note from Sputnik's foster mom: Sputnik does enjoy being petted, but she likes to pretend that she doesn't, because she needs to feel like she's in charge. We just go along with it so she can still feel like a big tough kitty, even though she's secretly a marshmallow.) Although I love my sister Hubble very much, we think it may be beneficial for me to go as an only animal, or to a home with a relaxed adult cat, because when I'm around my sister I tend to be more shy and let her do all the talking. In order for me to really come out of my shell, we may need to go our separate ways. However, if you really do want both of us, my foster caretakers can give you some advice for improving my confidence and helping me stand on my own, even when my very outgoing sister is around. We do not have "dogs" on my home planet... I recently encountered one and was not at all happy about it. I would certainly not like to live with one. I find your miniature humans ("children", as you call them) somewhat frightening, and I am in a phase of my life where I may communicate using nibbles (my English is not very good yet). So I may not be a good fit for a home with very miniature humans... however, if your small humans are somewhat on the larger side and understand that I need my space sometimes, I could learn to live with them. I really just need a family who can be patient, because I may take several weeks to acclimate to my new environment. If you come to visit me, I will be shy, but I will accept offerings of treats and perhaps even some petting. My foster mom says that anyone who is willing to give me just a couple of weeks to open up will fall in love with the "sweet young lady" I am (her words, not mine).
