Hello, meet Tom Tom! Here's what his foster mom says about him: His fur is adorable! He wears a little turban, has a smudge of a goatee under his lower lip, ombre ears if viewed from behind, & a beauty spot on his right cheek. My favorite detail is the way his white fur parts and fans out over the base of his tail. His white fur is a little longer than his grey fur and it is coarse. I googled ''cats with coarse fur'' and found there are 2 registered breeds, American Coarse Hair and American Wire Hair. and I think must be a mix of one or both of them. Tom is a good boy who likes people but he may hide from loud strangers or people who move too fast toward him. He greets us by rubbing our legs and meowing his slightly raspy meow. He likes to be brushed on his back while he is eating his crunchy food...BTW he is a good eater. He drinks plenty of water to stay hydrated & enjoys a few treats daily. He likes to sleep on or under our IKEA chair or our loveseat. He is affectionate; he especially likes to sit by our side or stand on our lap and lean into our chest but he does NOT like to be picked up or gripped or squeezed. He was abandoned before coming to CAWS & he does NOT like to be left alone often or for long periods of time during a 24 hour period and would do best with a pet sitter when you go on vacation. Soothing music calms him if he is agitated & I have a CD I'm happy to give to his adopter. He is playful; his favorite toys are those he can bat around, throw in the air, or kick w/his hind legs. He loves chasing his laser light and his wand toy. Don't use your hand as a play toy for him because he may be rough with it. We believe that before he was abandoned he slept on his human's bed and had children who played with him & loved him...because he enjoys those things now. He has very good manners & uses his litter box perfectly. In our home, he has never jumped on our kitchen table or counter or begged for food. He lived with other cats in a colony before he was in a fight & injured which is when he came to be a CAWS cat. Our resident cat is a bit of bully to him though so we haven't tried an introduction. We think he would be open to having another cat and/or calm dog if there is a proper introduction period.
