Description:
Teddy was returned to us by his owner who said his behavior was aggressive. We took Teddy to the vet for a health exam and he was found to be severely constipated and have a condition called megacolon, which translates to a slow-moving bowel. His bowel does not empty normally and he becomes dehydrated which turns into constipation. Teddy underwent a surgical procedure to physically release the constipated bowel because medicine alone did not help. Teddy is now on lactulose, a stool softener, so he does not become constipated again. We are also looking into the possibility of surgery to help his situation. If he has the surgery, he would be much better physically but be on special food for the rest of his life.
