Adopt Duchess (Spayed) (FIV+) a All Black Domestic Shorthair (short coat) cat in

Location:
Marietta, OH
Description:

Duchess is a beautiful 2-year old female kitty who was surrendered by her owner on May 20, 2023 along with several other cats (including Duchess' 5-month old kitten Princess) who had shared her home. Sadly, their mistress was no longer physically able to take care of her beloved pets. Duchess has a sleek black short smooth coat,, a long tail, and a lovely serene-looking face with dark golden eyes, a black velvet nose, and long black whiskers. Duchess has a sweet, gentle disposition and a calm, easygoing personality. She and her kitten (Princess) had shared a cage but they were separated when (sigh) we learned that Duchess was pregnant and later gave birth to three kittens on June 12/June 15th. Sadly none of Duchess' newborn kittens survived. Duchess was given vaccinations, wormer, and flea treatment on June 1, 2023. She weighed 8.4 lbs that day. Duchess was also combo tested and was negative for feline leukemia and heartworm but tested positive for FIV [Feline Immunodeficiency Virus]. Duchess will be re-tested at a later date. A vigilant pet owner who treats secondary infections can assist an FIV-infected cat to live a reasonably long life. The chances that an FIV-infected cat will pass the virus to other cats within a household are slim to none if no serious fighting or biting occurs .. And Duchess is definitely a lover and not a fighter. We look forward to taking updated photos of Duchess after she has recovered from the loss of the kittens. Duchess will be spayed in the near future and will be ready to find a loving home where she will be cherished, spoiled, and treated like royalty. Duchess was spayed on July 17, 2023 and was also given rabies vaccine. She weighed 6 lbs that day. Duchess was also re-tested on July 17th with the same results .. Negative for feline leukemia but positive for FIV/Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. Duchess is ready to find a fabulous home either through adoption or rescue. Rescue groups may contact our HSOV Feline Rescue Coordinator via email (XXXX@suddenlink.net). We can usually help with transportation.
