Orange Chicken Aka "orange", Domestic Shorthair For Adoption In La Jolla

Price:
$5
Location:
La Jolla, CA
Description:

Loveable Orange is 3 years old and looking for love. He has a lot of conditions for his care so the chance of finding him the right home is slim, but we have to try. He deserves to have the love he so craves. Orange needs to be the only cat in the house or he needs his own room that other cats will not enter. He will spray if there are "enemy cats" in his territory. We want to set him up for success if he moves on to a new home so we need a foster/adopter committed to meeting his needs (even if it means you can't bring him another adorable cat that you fall in love with later on). Orange has been a gentle roommate to our 20-year-old resident cats but, since he started spraying, he's only allowed to visit them with supervision for short periods (so he doesn't get a chance to spray). He's content to spend most of the day and night in a cage, but we don't like to see him living his life in there and not getting the pets and lap-time he deserves. We named this cutie "Orange Chicken", because he isn't very brave. He runs from confrontation of any kind and cries like he's being murdered at the slightest threat of aggression. Because he's so confrontation-averse, we have to force him to go out in the yard to stretch his legs and we have to remove most of the other cats- he has a few feline friends he isn't afraid of. Did we mention he's a BIG chicken? At 13.5lbs, he could stand to be more bold, but it isn't his nature. He is a gentle, kind soul. Orange is fine with very gentle cats but that doesn't mean he won't spray around them. Also, his dramatic, fearful responses to other cats seems to trigger aggressiveness in even non-dominant cats so he's best situated with no other cats or someone very experienced who is going to manage him carefully (e.g. always supervise pet interactions and put stud pants on him when he's free in the home). Orange loves adult people and is the kind of cat that starts purring just because you look at him. While he loves being around people, he may be afraid of kids or very loud people (or other loud sounds). Requirements for his health: 3 Luckydog-approved raw meals per daydetoxification supplements raw meaty bones to keep his teeth cleanlots of loveclean house (he might have asthma)fragrance-free environmentdaily brushing in the warm months He got very sick after being vaccinated as a kitten so he cannot be vaccinated again. He will have to remain on our immune-supportive diet and supplements to help ensure a healthy life without further vaccination. Because his health is at risk, he will be placed as a long-term foster or co-owned kitty so we can be sure he gets the care he needs for life. Check out his video and you will fall in love with his loving nature. If you were planning to raise a cat holistically, and you already live fragrance-free, you would likely be able to add him to your life without much trouble. We realize meeting his conditions is a lot to ask of any adopter so he will likely be with us for life. We just want to put it out there in case the perfect situation arises and it makes sense to move him. We know it is a long shot but we wanted to give Orange a chance to have more space and more attention. If you cannot bring him into your home, consider volunteering to care for and entertain him and his "scentsitive" brothers in their home. They would really appreciate any help you can offer. If you cannot help in person, donations of quality, raw food (free of fish oil and rosemary) are welcome, as well as donations for vet care, supplements, etc. Thank you for reading. PS the siamese-looking cat is Orange's brother. He also requires the same kind of arrangement but he LOVES dogs. We would love for him to live in a home with a dog or dogs. He, even more so than Orange, cannot be around other cats (especially Orange, but he can be a danger to any cat). He has been consistently friendly with dogs and people. You can see Orange and Siamn as kittens in this adorable short video: https://youtube.com/shorts/P1V-MkZrDqs?feature=shareAdoption processIf we have an adoptable pet you are interested in, please message us with some details about your home/family and request an application. Please allow 5 days for a response and if you don't get one, please email again. If you're interested in helping us keep special needs pets alive and well, please arrange a recurring weekly or monthly donation at LJK9.com Even $5/week helps a lot. Thank You. If you wish to adopt a single kitten, please note this. Kittens who have no other kittens to grow up with can be too rough as they grow larger and don't realize their increasing strength. Humans can communicate with cats, but fall short of what other cats can teach. Single kitten syndrome is a major factor in cats being given up to shelters so please do your part in preventing this by refusing to adopt a single kitten under 12 wks of age. Prior to applying for a pet from any rescue, Please watch The Truth About Pet Cancer (linked below) to learn about common products linked to cancer. No doumentary is perfectly unbiased, so please ignore the unsubstantiated, biased claims and those based on single events. Please pay close attention to the parts backed by convincing evidence. Please also note that Luckydog is generally against the use of essential oils in homes with pets. Many vets recommend them because they have some beneficial effects in some pets but nobody has propertly studied the long-term effects of exposure to these oils. Even undetectable vapors from EOs can be deadly. A pet owner may not realize a pet's been exposed and that pet may go on to be diagnosed with non-specific liver or kidney disease, for example, or seizures. The problem may never be linked to the EOs in the home. I'm yet to see a veterinary laboratory order form that offers a test for EO toxicity. The only way we find out a pet's been injured by EO's is usually when they've been acutely poisoned (exposed to large amounts in a short period of time) and get extremely ill. We recommend avoiding most fragrances and EO's in a home with pets. Luckydog is big on promoting natural, holistic, and integrative health-optimization-protocols and wil like to help you keep your pet healthy after adoption (or while being fostered). Our experts scrutinize information gathered from thousands of medical journal entries and hundreds of experts rather than simply regurgitating the opinions of a single expert or community. What Luckydog does isn't easy but we hope that it makes pet care easy for our followers. Luckydog's goal is to ensure you have no regrets on the day that you say "goodbye" to your furkid and that that day doesn't come any sooner than it has to.
