Lulubelle, Domestic Shorthair For Adoption In Hawthorn Woods, Illinois

Price:
$295
Location:
Hawthorn Woods, IL
Description:

LuluBelle is a petite, curious, playful kitty with a gorgeous sleek coat on her back and the softest, fluffiest, bunnylike fur on her belly. She loves to roll over on her back and get belly & chest rubs, as well as ear 'skritches'. She also loves to play with cat teasers, nail files (when left unattended) and her foster sister Peapod. All of Lulu's brothers were adopted in early summer 2023, and another foster sister she really loved to play and snuggle with was also adopted. Poor Lulu kept getting left behind because she used to be a little shy. She has really blossomed now, and although Lulu is great at playing independently, what she loves most is playing chase and wrestling and cuddling with her latest foster sibling. They both enjoy each other's company so will need to be adopted together. She's also lived with dogs, and has never been phased by them. Her current foster home has a 65 lb active dog and they have always gotten along great. As long as your dog likes cats, she'd be perfect with a home with dogs. If you're looking for a ready-made pair, here they are! One important note about Lulu is that as much as she enjoys human playing and petting, she is not a fan of being picked up or carried and definitely seeks petting on her terms. This doesn't mean she's not social - she's almost always in the same room as her foster mom and greets most people at/near the front door. She's just not going to be a "carry around like a doll" pet - to be fair, most cats aren't, but if you're looking for a constantly snuggly, needy cat, she's not your match. She is, however, a great companion, easy to please and low maintenance. Consider giving Lulu and Peapod a chance at their furever home! Behaviorally and socially, it’s best to adopt kittens in pairs, or into a home with a compatible playful cat. Kittens really need a feline playmate in their forever home…and then they can get to play, and snuggle while you're not home, wrestle with each other instead of with your ankles, and grow up with an always-available companion. Bored cats can become destructive cats. If you are only interested in adopting a single kitten, and you’re home most of the day, and able to spend interactive time with a kitten, we may consider adopting out a single kitten. We usually prefer that they be 4 months or older. But each application will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Many of our kitten litters may also be able to be mixed ‘n matched to make a pair if they are not particularly bonded with a sibling. Each foster home knows the kittens' personalities best, and we follow their recommendations for single placements or mix/matching. Lulu's approximate date of birth is 3-24-23, and the combined adoption fee for Lulu and Peapod is $295, which includes: vet exam, Feleuk/FIV test, FVRCP (distemper combo) vaccination, routine deworming, flea control, microchip and spay for both cats.Adoption processOur adoption process: Adopt-A-Pet does not own a shelter facility. Because all of our animals are in private foster homes, they are shown by appointment, after an application has been submitted. How to start the process: Contact us by email or phone. An adoption counselor will return your message within 1-2 days. You will be asked to fill out an application that will ask for personal information about your family, your home and about the kind of pet you're looking for. Vet references, personal references and landlord information (if applicable) is required. You can also download an application from our website. Once you return the application, an adoption counselor will call you back for a more thorough interview, again within 1-2 days. Sometimes it may take a little longer as we're all volunteers and sometimes it gets very busy. Assuming the pet you're interested in appears to be a match for you, a meeting will then be set up. For some animals, a home check may be required. If an adoption takes place, you will be asked to sign a contract and pay an adoption fee. Each animal's individual adoption fee is posted in its description on our websites.Shelter locationAdopt-A-Pet does not own a shelter facility. Because all of our animals are in private foster homes, they are shown by appointment only, after an application has been submitted. Occasional public weekend adoption events are posted on the Home Page of our website: www.adoptapet-il.org
