ABOUT: Mandarin loves attention and will happily accept it from everyone, including visitors, but he does not enjoy being held or hugged. He does love to take naps on your lap. Mandarin was in a temporary foster home who said he is very easy to care for. He is happy to entertain himself while you are gone, but he loves interaction and even likes to join in on zoom conference calls. He is a very hard worker and likes to make biscuits everywhere. Mandarin is around 12 years old but still has a playful side and enjoys light beams and balls in particular. He is not afraid to explore or try new things. Mandarin also enjoys drinking out of the giant, cool, water bowl in the bathroom…if you know what we mean. Mandarin hasn’t been fostered with children. In his foster home he did meet a 14 year old and loved all the attention, but he doesn’t like to be picked up so he would do best with older children who can respect his preferences. Mandarin has been housed in our adoption center and he does very well with the other cats. Mandarin has been diagnosed with mild Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy or HCM. He currently does not take any medication for this condition, but it was recommended that he receive a repeat echocardiogram in 9-12 months to monitor progress. The prognosis for HCM is variable. Mandarin’s foster home described him as clean, friendly, mellow, playful, and independent. If this sounds like a good match for your home the first step is to fill out our adoption application. You can ask your counselor any questions you have regarding health, behavior, and long-term care. - You and all members of your household will then be invited to visit the foster home or boarding facility where the animal is currently living. If you decide adoption is right for you, you will be asked to sign an adoption contract and pay an adoption fee which covers the spay/neuter, wellness exam, vaccinations, microchip, and heartworm test (dogs only). - Animals are subject to a home visit prior to completion of the adoption process. - You will ALWAYS have continued support from Lulu’s Locker after your adoption!
