This little family had been living in a shed and when found by the home owner, they knew just who to call for help. Of course we couldn't say "no" to this family in need - welcome Josh and family! Josh (like his siblings) is a bit on the shy side - at first. He is quick to warm up to you and is accepting of pets if you approach him slowly - he learns pretty fast though that there is no stranger danger. Sometimes he waits and watches and takes a signal from his siblings but more often than not, he is the first to approach anyone new. Josh is great with other cats and loves a good tumble and play session. He's also a fan of kitty toys and is partial to sparkly pompoms and that uncatchable laser mouse. He's still a bit nervous around noisy children but he will get used to them - as long as the children can respect his need to go slow, he'll be accepting of that. If you have dogs, well that is an unknown for large dogs but for the little ones, he could care less. Lastly we wanted to mention "Black Cat Syndrome" - the general opinion that black cats are harder to adopt than other cats that have similar personalities and physical traits. It really is a thing - many people shy away from black cats simply because they are black. Superstition is what it boils down to but we are here to tell you, black cats are fabulous and no different than any cat of a different color but it is true, they stay in rescues and shelters much longer than other cats do. So if you could find it in your heart to welcome a black cat into your home and family, well Josh would be very happy to hear that. Take a chance on him, show him he's valued regardless of the color of his coat. You won't be disappointed! Additionally, we are currently forced to limit our adoptions to suitable adopters that reside within a 100 mile radius of our facility. Please continue reading for our adoption policies and procedures.*** BASICS Be aware that we have Fencing, Indoor Living and Declawing policies. We will not waiver on these policies as it is our responsibility to ensure the animals in our care are placed into the safest and healthiest environment possible. No exceptions made. * You must be at least 21 years old to adopt* The entire household must be in agreement about adopting the animal you choose* You may not adopt for someone else or for a gift* We encourage that all dogs under 3 years old attend training sessions, either private or group * Dogs and cats must live indoors* Dogs require fencing. * No declawing of cats allowed ADOPTION PROCESS Please read through our canine and feline adoption process (found on our website) before submitting an inquiry or application.
