Hercules is the sweetest cat you'll ever meet. He is about 5 years old and came to PAWS as a stray. Because of his background of living on the streets, he unfortunately has FIV and FeLV. He will need to be the only cat in the foster home or live with another FeLV positive cat. Adult cats may be calmer than kittens, but make no mistake, they love to channel their inner lion by alternating between long naps and ferocious “hunting” sessions of their toy mice. Some prefer a nice lap to nap on and others prefer to be loved from a distance. Each one has a very special, unique personality and it is a joy to see their habits unfold in a new home. If you’re looking to add more gentle cuddles and playtime to your life, an adult cat could be your perfect fit!Adoption processTo adopt a cat or dog from PAWS Chicago: - Be at least 21 years of age. - Have a form of identification (license or state ID) - Verify that you are allowed to have a cat/dog where you currently live. - Be able to spend the time and resources necessary to provide the training, medical treatment and proper care for your cat. - Bring along all family members (including children) to meet the cat/dog(s). - Be able to take the cat/dog home on the day of adoption. - Have the time to spend up to an hour with an adoption counselor to discuss the responsibility of owning a cat/dog and making it a lifetime commitment. Adoption Fee: - $150.00 for kittens - $100.00 for cats 1-5 years of age - $75.00 for cats 6-9 years of age - $50.00 for cats 10 years and older - $450.00* for puppies - $350.00* for dogs 1-7 years of age - $200.00 for dogs 8 years and older *A $100.00 refundable training deposit is also required for each dog/puppy. This deposit is refundable upon completion of obedience training. You will have four months from the date of the adoption to complete a basic obedience class with your new puppy/dog. When you provide proof that your PAWS dog has completed a course, we will reimburse you the $100.00 deposit you submitted at the time of adoption.
