Butters came to the shelter with a swollen face from an abscess. Cats who enter this shelter with physical wounds or are sick usually get euthanized. We pulled Butters immediately and got him to the vet. The vet performed a dental where he lost several teeth on the left side of his face. Upon further investigation, it was determined that poor Butters suffered some sort of trauma on his face that has affected not only his mouth/teeth but also his sinuses and his eyes. According to our vet, Butters will always have eyes that drain. He is pretty good about letting his foster clean his face when needed.Like most orange cats, Butters is a sweet cat who gets along with other cats and dogs. He is affectionate and quiet. He is calm, but he also can be very playful with the other cat-friendly cats in his foster home. He loves to sit in the window and watch the birds and whatever else that might pass by. Butters is older so he is less active but can have spurts of energetic zoomies. We think he used to be an indoor/outdoor kitty because every chance he gets, he will try to escape through an opened door. For that reason, a home that is less active would be better for Butters so there is less opportunity for him to dart out the front door. We don’t want Butters to experience another trauma.
