Meet Whitey, 5 years old Domestic Shorthair
"Say nighty night and kiss me. Just hold me tight and tell me you'll miss me. While I'm alone and blue as can beDream a little dream of me." Mama CassThis could have been what Whitey was thinking when his owners left. Unfortunately, they seemed to be the "out of sight, out of mind" types who had no problem leaving their cats behind when they moved. Whitey and the others were left outside, in the winter. Whitey is a 5 yr old orange and white kitty who just wants to be your lapcat. His former foster mom told us how loving he was toward her, and how he would cuddle at any time, not just on his own schedule. That's kind of rare for a cat!Whitey had to be fostered for a while in order to get over an infection. His immune system took a hit during his ordeal which is not surprising due to his being FIV positive. This condition is not contagious to dogs or humans but it can be caught by other cats through physical contact, so Whitey either needs to be the only cat in the house, or he can live with another FIV positive cat. As long as Whitey gets his regular vaccines and eats quality food, he can live as long as any other cat. Whitey sometimes seems very depressed in his cattery cage and you can't blame him. Being forgotten is almost as hurtful as being abused. Whitey qualifies for the PAWS program. That means his adoption payment is at a reduced rate if you're 55 or older.
